Here's What's New With Peter McCory!
February 26, 2010
Hi, Friends...
I'm still taking a well-deserved break from recording after the completion of my third CD, "
Get All Happy!" which was released late last year. I haven't had much of change to plug it
yet, as I've been so busy taking bookings for spring and summer shows. I hope you'll get a copy
and give it a listen. I think it's my best CD yet! This is the first time I have parked my songs
at digital distribution sites like iTunes. If you go there you can get a taste of the 18 songs
on this CD.
I got snowed out of a lot of shows with the big snow storms of 2010, but things are getting back
up to speed now that that seems to be past us. Spring is coming, and that will mean lots of visits
for me at schools and preschools. As summer approaches, I'll be playing a lot more a child care
centers, libraries and shopping malls. Hope to catch you somewhere soon!
Hey, for all you "older kids" (like me), I now have a steady gig playing music for
adults and families at Nora's Lebanese Restaurant in Gainesville, VA. Come catch me the first and
third Thursdays of the month from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. Nora's has GREAT Lebanese eats, and a nice
atmosphere. I'm having a ball. I get to play all my favorite acoustic guitar hits, many of which
people nowadays don't even remember (how about Wynken, Blynken and Nod, by Lucy Simon, 1964). It's just me and my
axe... no one-man band gear. It's McCory unplugged! Come have a nice dinner and enjoy the music.
Nora's has music every Thursday evening. For more info go to www.norarestaurant.com.
Here's another cool thing... I have now have a walking one-man band rig that is really fun! I have
a backpack with a kick drum, high hats, and even tail lights that blink when I play. These items are
controlled by straps connected to my feet. So when I walk in step, you get some great boom-chick
while I play guitar, harmonica, kazoo and walk at the same time. I am anxious to use it for street
performances and at fairs and festivals. If you've seen me perform, you know that I usually do
it sitting down, because I can play more instruments simultaneously. But to a lot of folks, a
one-man band has got to look like Burt on Mary Poppins. So, voila! I can fill the bill. I'll post
some pix on the site soon, and maybe even some video.
And last but not least... if you want to stay
up on all the latest One-Man Band news, please take a moment and join my new e-mail mailing
list. You can sign up on my home page, or on the contact page. I promise not to be
obnoxious about sending things. I hope to try sending out something maybe once a month, if I can
find to time to be that diligent.
Happy Spring...
